For the event The Day of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province for the seventh time the works of the artists from Galeria Rusz visited a few cities and towns of our region: Toruń, Grudziądz, Brodnica, Włocławek, Inowrocław and Bydgoszcz. The event was held under the slogan of “What do we need the most in these uncertain times?” The artists selected 10 needs and depicted them in their works: understanding, kindness, empathy, persistence, solidarity, support, hope, cooperation, mental strength, and love. This was a unique tour of thought-provoking pictures. This art inspired thinking and reflection. We encouraged the inhabitants of our region to take a fresh look at their place of living and community, and to notice that this community can give them valuable support in dealing with a tough and demanding reality. Being a part of this community, they can contribute in building a positive community for all.

There are moments in a community when we have to take an examination. It’s easier to be a community when things are going well. But there are tranquil times and stormy times. In order to pass this examination, we need to get ready, put a lot of effort, and work. Our community – global, Polish and local – is just facing such a challenge. We need to find new solutions and learn new skills to be able to cope with our challenges, Rafał Góralski comments on the project.

Our times show that what is communal is extremely important, and that good solutions cannot be found individually. For this reason, there’s tension between what is individual and what is communal, adds Joanna Górska.

The artists tried to find the answer to a question: How can we find freedom among all these restrictions and orders that we have to follow, and how can we maintain relationships and be TOGETHER, while keeping a required distance at the same time? This is a paradox of these times, the Gordian knot that we need to untie. We have to find a new pattern for a community together!
