City of dreams
“Dream City” is an unconventional exhibition of artistic works by Joanna Górska and Rafał Góralski, organized in 2018. For 4 months Polish public space changed into a huge art gallery. From May to June their works were presented as Motorway billboards on access roads from Grudziądz, Świecie, Katowice and Dąbrowa Górnicza, and from July to August in Katowice and the Silesian Agglomeration.
The artists from Toruń created a series of inspiring works about dreams without which our life would be sad and boring. Without creative activities of dreamers and their „crazy” ideas there would be no progress. Dreamers were the driving forces of great geographical discoveries, as well as the creators of most inventions and the most valuable works of art – Rafał Góralski comments on the project. – We, the inhabitants of Toruń, are lucky that one of the biggest dreamers of the world – Nicolaus Copernicus – was born in our city. Nothing was impossible for him, let’s follow his example.
For us Toruń is a perfect place for dreaming. Yet we are sure that you can dream anywhere – Joanna Górska sums up. – Through our works we want to share our dreams with the inhabitants of Silesia, to encourage them to perceive their city as the dream city, or to come to us, to Toruń, and find a place and time for dreams as they give inspiration, power and energy for creative activities and exciting life.
The project has been co-funded by the Toruń Municipality
