2019
The project of the exhibition “Calling” was launched in December 2019 for the event “The Days of Grzegorz Ciechowski” in Toruń. Galeria Rusz prepared the exhibition of works inspired by Ciechowski that were displayed on one of the city buses and on billboards.
The artists focused on the issue of calling, the role each of us has to play in this world. Both such outstanding artists as Grzegorz Ciechowski, and ordinary citizens (without the initials GC) have some mission to fulfil and are called to perform some tasks. It is worth wondering why we live in this world, what our goal is, and what our calling is, not necessarily with a capital C. “The Days of Grzegorz Ciechowski” and his output are a good pretext for this.
Both artists, who on the one hand, try to understand themselves and reality, and on the other hand, express it in their works, and each of us, have some calling – one can be called to be a doctor, a teacher, but also a baker who makes delicious bread, says Joanna Górska. Recipients, in turn, use this work of art created by artists for their personal use – to better understand themselves, other people, reality, and to look for the deeper meaning. It is worth giving attention to valuable art as it “urges” us to move toward a deeper reflection, as well as to look thoroughly at ourselves and the mechanisms that govern our individual and collective life.
The works of the artists from Galeria Rusz were presented in the public space of Toruń and Warsaw from 1 to 31 December 2019:
- the exhibition of the works in Toruń:
