“Our Time” is the exhibition organised by Galeria Rusz in June and July 2020. The artists invited inhabitants of Toruń to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the return of Toruń to Free Poland. The artists focused on the reflection over time and what we do with the time that is given to us.
100 years ago our countrymen made good use of their time. Their joint efforts brought Toruń back to Free Poland. Those people united in their fight for such an important matter and idea. Despite many difficulties, they won and we can live in a free country, speak Polish, and enjoy our self-determination and Polish identity.
The question is whether we are making good use of our time? Are we, the generation here and now, making as good use of our time as the generation 100 years ago that helped Toruń return to the motherland? It’s worth taking inspiration from what happened 100 years ago, recollecting this important event and translating it into the current time that is difficult for all of us.
The works of the artists were presented on one of the city buses in June, and on citylights at various places around the city in July.
The project was carried out with the support of the Commune of the City of Toruń.
