Toruń – the City of Inspirations
“Toruń – the City of Inspirations” is an unconventional exhibition of the works by Joanna Górska and Rafał Góralski, organised in summer 2019. For two months (July and August) the artists changed the city space of Tricity (Gdańsk-Sopot-Gdynia) into a huge art gallery, showing their works promoting Toruń on citylights and billboards.
The contemporary world needs new ideas and concepts like never before, says Rafał Góralski. It needs creative people and groundbreaking discoveries that will push the world forward. Toruń is lucky since one of the greatest explorers in the world – Nicolaus Copernicus – was born here. He pushed the world forward on a large scale. This is why the inhabitants of Toruń are proud of the cultural heritage of their ancestors, and of crucial astronomical discoveries that have been inspiring people to this day. The contemporary world needs such people to find new breakthrough solutions to make our lives better.
Galeria Rusz, inspired by the achievements of this genius from Toruń, encouraged the inhabitants of Tricity to the Copernicus revolution … in thinking. They invited them to find some innovative ideas and solutions that would help us look at the world in a new way, notice its invaluable character, take care of its future, and help it survive – for our own good and for the good of future generations. The artists also invited people to visit the City of Copernicus as where else, if not in Toruń, can we find inspiration in art and culture that is present at every turn here.
The project has been funded with support from the Commune of the City of Toruń
